Once the clock turns to October each year we officially begin work on our annual holiday gift guide, which this year will be released on Friday, October 31 (if I get my act together) or Saturday, November 1 (most probable).
Our holiday gift guide is our biggest project of the year. Last year’s gift guide featured more than 175 different gift suggestions, all hand-chosen by us. We rebranded and switched up a lot of things earlier this year so the formatting on our 2013 Holiday Gift Guide is a little wonky, but the 2012 Holiday Gift Guide gives you a good idea of the types of gifts we include each year.
Also worth noting: We have never (and will never) charge anyone to be included in our gift guide. Our goal isn’t to get rich or just work with the companies willing to pay to advertise their products. Our goal is truly to feature the best gifts of the year!
Do you work with a product, or know of an item that may be a good fit for our 2014 Holiday Gift Guide? If so, we’d LOVE to hear from you. We choose every item that is included, but welcome any and all suggestions! (It takes a village and all that…)
Please feel free to send me an email:
Please note the submission deadline is October 20.
Thanks for considering!
Mother’s Day will be here before we know it, and if you haven’t yet picked up something special for mom t&j Designs has just the thing!
There’s a t&j Designs Mother’s Day Flash Sale taking place right now, where four pieces of XO jewelry are marked down to just $16 each! The 18K Gold Swarovski XOXO Necklace above normally sells for $128, but you can grab it today for $16. (Crazy deal, right? It’s also available in white gold.)
The matching 18K Gold Swarovski XOXO Earrings typically cost $88, but are marked down to $16 today. Like the necklace, the earrings are also available in white gold.
This is a pretty awesome deal on some really pretty jewelry! Note that all flash sale jewelry is considered final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.

There’s a lot of “mom” jewelry on the market these days, but if you’re looking for something a little different I recommend checking out this Wooden Cameo Necklace from Le Papier Studio. I’m so smitten with it that I have had it open in my browser for two weeks!
There’s a selection of silhouettes to choose from, or you have the option of submitting your own photos for a truly personalized necklace!
A small pearl and a gold wishbone charm are also affixed to each necklace.
Each wooden cameo necklace costs $64 and ships within 2-3 business days after the proof is finalized.
Y’all know how seriously I take my holiday shopping. I won’t stop until I have the perfect gift for everyone on my list. One topic I didn’t really cover in my 2013 Holiday Gift Guide is beauty gifts. You know – the things that most girls would be pretty happy to find tucked under the tree this year.
ULTA is one heck of a destination for beauty gifts. I headed out to my local store last week and spent an hour and a half wandering around and checking EVERYTHING out. I walked away with five items that will make excellent gifts for some of the people on my shopping list. Here’s what I picked up at ULTA:
||Clarisonic Mia 2 • $150
The Clarisonic has been around for awhile now, but its popularity isn’t fading! The Clarisonic Mia 2 uses sonic technology to gently but deeply clean your face. I’m not going to lie – I picked up this Clarisonic Mia for myself! After years of writing about Clarisonic products I’m so excited to finally have one of my own.
Perfect for: Yourself, your BFF, mom, sister… anyone!
|Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream • $19.50
During the super dry winter months, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is a bit of a wonder product. It quickly moisturizes your hands without leaving them feeling sticky. Better yet – it really lasts 8 hours! You won’t keep grabbing for the moisturizer every five minutes if you’re using this product.
Perfect for: Anyone who spends the day typing or on a computer and doesn’t want to look down at their dry hands.
||Philosophy Season of Sparkle • $26
Unfortunately this product is sold out online, but I found plenty of them at my local ULTA. I think Philosophy products are the perfect gift for nearly everyone. Who doesn’t love their wonderful scents and kitschy packaging? This set comes with White Pear, White Cranberry, and White Cherry scented shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath.
Perfect for: Hostesses, teachers, co-workers, anyone!
|Too Faced Natural Eye Kit • $36
Ever since the Urban Decay Naked palettes were released (which you can also find at ULTA!), brands have been trying to create similar palettes to help one create a sultry, yet deceptively simple eye. My favorite is the Too Faced Natural Eye Kit, which comes with 9 different shades as well as instructions for creating the perfect natural eye. I love it because the packaging is still pretty small, which makes this kit easy to transport.
Perfect for: All makeup lovers.
||Urban Decay Vice 2 • $59
On the opposite end of the color spectrum is the Urban Decay Vice 2 palette. These colors are anything but natural. This is the perfect kit for those who are always experimenting with their makeup.
Perfect for: Bold makeup lovers.
While I had so much fun finishing up my Christmas shopping by wandering around ULTA, you can also shop ULTA’s Holiday Gift Guide Online for more great beauty gifting inspiration.
Also, don’t forget to check out the ULTA website before heading to the store! They almost always have a printable coupon or two available that will save you a little extra money.
Do Tell: What’s on your beauty wish list this year?

No holiday gift guide would be complete without a list of stocking stuffers, so this year we went all out and came up with this list of 100+ Stocking Stuffers for Men!
Each year I have the hardest time coming up with stocking stuffers for men, so usually I toss in a couple of magazines and some candy and call it a day. Instead of following that same path I decided to sit down and come up with a list of interesting, useful, fun, and/or kitschy stocking stuffers for men. And, even better, each of the items below costs less than $10!
Personally, I always try to make the small gifts as useful as possible. A gag gift or two is fine, but the money spent on stockings can add up quickly. A stocking doesn’t have to be expensive, just be sure to think – is this something that will actually get some use and/or be appreciated or is it something that will go to waste? If you wouldn’t buy someone a gift you think they wouldn’t use, no sense stuffing their stocking with things they won’t use either.
Many of the items below can be found at your local store, but links are provided below for hard-to-find items or for those of you who prefer to do your shopping online.
This year, there’s no excuse for any coal-stuffed stockings! (Well, at least not for a lack of trying. Naughtiness is a separate issue and coal-shaped chocolate is always appreciated.)
