I honestly cannot say that I ever checked out the Gilchrist & Soames website before this past weekend. I’d just always known G&S as the nice brand of beauty products that high-end hotels sometimes carry (and thus as the travel-sized products that I’m always excited to take home with me).
Imagine my surprise then to realize that Gilchrist & Soames products aren’t nearly as expensive as I’d once thought them to be AND there are actually some pretty good deals to be found on the website. One of the deals I spotted is for this Gilchrist & Soames Lotion Sampler, which gives you the opportunity to try their entire collection of lotions for just $15. All things considered, that’s not too bad!
The Gilchrist & Soames Lotion Sampler includes the following products:
- Essentiel Elements Spa Body Lotion, 1oz
- Reserve Collection Body Lotion, 1.5oz
- BeeKind Body Lotion, 1oz
- English Spa Vitamin E Body Lotion, 1.1oz
- Spa Therapy Sea Fennel Body Lotion, 1oz
- London Collection Body Lotion, 1.5 oz
- Verde Body Lotion, 1oz
- Essentiel Elements Body Lotion, 1.5oz
- Aqua Lime Body Lotion, 1oz
- Seagrass Tray
If you’re not interested in trying out their lotion, something like this could make a nice hostess gift, or perhaps even a nice gift for teachers this holiday season!
If you’re wondering how I spend my evenings during the month of October, it’s basically browsing gift ideas to include in our 2014 Holiday Gift Guide. I’m fortunate in that I’ve received hundreds of suggestions this year, so browsing is really like going window shopping. There are quite a few items I’m really excited about and a few that have left me scratching my head.
While I normally don’t share gift guide picks ahead of time, there’s one item that’s currently still in Kickstarter mode (but going to production soon) that I thought might interest some of you.
The Color Clutch is a brand new invention that provides an easy space-saving way to store up to 18 bottles of nail polish. Foam inserts help protect your nail polish bottles, and will actually hold ANY bottle (aside from the very irregularly shaped Christian Louboutin Nail Polish). Once your nail polish has been inserted, the Color Clutch will take up only 2.5″ of shelf space, which is pretty darn amazing!
What I like best about the Color Clutch is that the layout makes it so easy to see what nail polish you own! I currently store all of my nail polish in a drawer, which isn’t terribly efficient and makes picking out a color a chore.
While the Color Clutch is a brand new product, I’m kind of amazed something like this doesn’t exist already! I can easily see this being sold at stores like Sephora and ULTA – it’s such a no-brainer that nearly any woman can use!
Interested? Check out the Color Clutck Kickstarter for more details!
(Kickstarter funding ends October 22, and all those purchased via the campaign will ship in time for the holidays!)

I’ve been a big fan of The Home T ever since they launched, and now I feel compelled to share that they’ve launched their very first collection of white tee shirts – though it’s a limited-edition run so you may want to hurry to grab one!
It’s not that I’m just a proponent of showing support for one’s home state (or adopted state), but The Home T donates a portion of all proceeds to multiple sclerosis research. MS is a terrible nervous system disorder that doesn’t get enough press or funding (in my opinion). I had an aunt pass away from complications with MS a few years ago, and two more people I know were diagnosed within the past year. MS is a disease that can strike anyone at anytime, so I try to do what I can to support this cause.
It’s not just lip service on behalf of The Home T either. Check this out:
Our donation is made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and is specifically earmarked for research. In 2013 the Society honored The Home T by giving us their Cause Marketing Partner of the Year award, and we couldn’t have been happier.
We know that our efforts are just a drop in the bucket, but as you know, if you get enough drops in the bucket, it will eventually become full.
With the holidays coming up, The Home T is one gift I always recommend. Everyone likes being reminded of home and your purchase can actually do some good.
White Home Tee – $30
Downeast Basics has an awesome sale going on right now where you can pick up an assortment of layering tees and other shirts for just $5 each!
My favorite is the Half Sleeve V Neck Tee above, which is available in 10 different colors in sizes XXS-XXL. It’s the perfect tee to pair under cardigans as the temps start to dip, and just $5 each, it’s a stock-up now price!
